Championing the homegrown message in sustainability

Lion is committed to its core purpose of enriching our world every day by championing sociability and helping people to live well. For this report, the fifth that we produced for Lion, the challenge was to think creatively about visual treatments as there was no budget for photography.

The solution

BWD sought to create a sustainability report that highlighted Lion’s contribution to local Australian and New Zealand economies and communities. We employed a collage-style design using a mix of contemporary and vintage illustrative elements that complemented Lion’s brands. By combining photographic images of ingredients, paper textures and hand-drawn illustrations, we produced a ‘home-grown’ report that was friendly and easy to digest.

The result

The report and supporting collateral received outstanding feedback. Elaine Cohen, a leading sustainability report expert, judged the report to be one of the best fifteen in the world for the year.
