Boral wanted to mark its 70th anniversary in a unique way and bring its rich history to life for its employees, partners and shareholders.
We have a long-standing partnership with Boral and produce a range of corporate communications for the company, including its annual report and internal magazine Boral News. To bring the company’s story to life, we suggested adding an experiential component to the anniversary issue in the form of an augmented reality activation.
Using the Viewa app, we developed an experience where users could scan the magazine cover image with their phones to trigger an AR experience and unlock a video. The video then played on their phones, telling the story – through images – of Boral in Australia and the US over the past 70 years. Users could also share the video on social media.
In addition to the AR experience, we produced an animated video for the chairman to play at the AGM which celebrates the great projects which Boral has helped build over seven decades.
Data analysis of downloads showed the campaign was effective in engaging Boral employees, shareholders and partners. Many more viewers than usual discovered the company’s history through our immersive and interactive experiences.
