BWD Strategic, an advisory firm specializing in sustainability strategy and reporting, today announced the opening of its new office in Arizona, USA.

The introduction of a second office in the U.S. demonstrates the growing need for true sustainability specialists as the expectations on corporate America increase. Companies need to navigate investor pressure, customer demands, and a slew of imminent regulations, such as the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission’s imminent climate disclosure rule, California’s two climate-related senate bills and the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, which is expected to impact over 3,000 U.S.-based companies.

“We’re proud to be the trusted advisors to chief sustainability officers in the Fortune 500 and beyond, as they tackle the challenge of truly integrating sustainability into their strategy, governance, and reporting“, said Dr. Alex Gold, CEO BWD North America. “The expansion of our U.S. team and our move out west enable us to better serve our growing client base, foster relationships with partners across the country and engage with the sustainability talent pipeline coming from the local universities.”

An unlikely champion of sustainability, Arizona has been at the forefront of sustainability-related innovation and investment over the past few decades. Phoenix, Tucson and Mesa, the state’s three largest cities, and others such as Tempe, Flagstaff and Bisbee have created and implemented climate action plans addressing topical sustainability issues for the state, including access to water, extreme heat, the decarbonization of energy and transportation sectors and others.

Arizona State University (ASU), the state and country’s largest public university, is home to the first college dedicated to the field of sustainability, opening its doors in 2006. BWD team members can enjoy views of ASU’s Tempe campus from the office windows and are working on a partnership with the university to provide real-world sustainability project experience to students in sustainability-focused master’s programs.

BWD provides strategic sustainability services to organizations such as several Fortune 500 companies and those just getting started. BWD’s end-to-end services include materiality assessment, climate scenario analysis, value creation modeling with executive teams, corporate reporting and project management, and investor ESG benchmarking.
